BJorn Bear Quilt

BJorn Bear Quilt

Last summer I made a quilt for our daughter’s 16th birthday using Dogs in Sweaters pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. I enjoyed working on that quilt so much, so I decided to make another animal quilt by the same designer for my husband’s birthday. BJorn Bear design appeared to be the best choice. I cut all my fabrics in September & I reached my goal by finishing the entire quilt just before Christmas. There are 173,292 quilting stitches (4.5 large bobbins), done on my BERNINA Q20 sit down longarm. It was stitched with love for Papa Bear by Mama Bear.

Even though I love custom free motion quilting a lot, I thought that this quilt needs to be simple, modern, & geometric. So I used straight rulers to quilt edge-to-edge Offset Squares design from “Shape by Shape” book by Angela Walters (affiliate link). It was a very easy and flawless process, I am definitely going to use this quilting method again in the future.

Papa Bear was very happy, he likes his quilt that keeps him warm & cozy… especially now, when our snowy Ontario winter is finally here.

By the way this was my first time shooting a quilt in the snow…such a beautiful winter wonderland out there!
