Wow our little princess just turned 3…how is it possible that time flies by that fast?
When Luna was just a few months old, I made a crochet cow blanket for her & I named that design Luna the Moo-Moo Cow. last summer I came across this “Cutest Critters” fabric panel by Avlyn Design Studio with some adorable cow prints on it. I thought it would make the perfect blocks for Luna’s birthday quilt…and it sure did!
I purchased 2 panels, which were designed to make a book, but since I wanted to make a quilt, I cut out each image to make individual blocks (24 blocks total). Though, Luna’s quilt is designed for 30 blocks, so I had to come up with 6 additional blocks to fill in the space. I enlarged & reversed the letters from her name L-U-N-A (1 letter per block) & I added 2 flower blocks using templates from my Scrappy Daisy Garden Quilt Pattern. I used the raw edge fusible applique method to attach these letters & flowers. The personalized quilt top turned out so lovely!
I quilted the layers on my BERNINA Q20 longarm using rulers & free motion quilting techniques. Then I hand-stitched a special note for Luna on the back of the quilt.
We love our little girl to the moon & back. Happy birthday, Luna!
