Hello friends, my new Hexi Cactus Placemats Quilting Pattern has just been released! It includes 5 appliqué designs along with the SVG templates for cutting machines. So you can choose to use scissors or digitized templates for cutting appliqué pieces.
The pattern is in PDF format with 21 pages / 2 MB (mobile devices friendly) + 5 optional SVG files (templates for cutting machines). The pattern includes step-by-step instructions, images, and quilting diagrams for making hexagon shaped log cabin placemats. You will need a printer and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Sewing with a scant 1/4″ seam for quilt-as-you-go method, log cabin piecing, using printable templates, cutting trapezoids, using 60 degree corner trimmer, raw edge fusible appliqué, 120 degree binding, free motion quilting or walking foot quilting (both are optional).
TIP 1: Use Cactus appliqués to embellish a quilt block, a pillowcase or even clothing.
I made these rectangular table runners just so I could practice free motion quilting. I enjoy building my muscle memory, as you know – practice makes perfect 🙂
TIP 2: Play with different decorative stitches on your sewing machine, cacti are so much fun to appliqué.
