This pattern is currently available through Etsy and Craftsy in PDF format with instant download. It’s 23 pages long and is 2.7 MB (mobile devices friendly); there is also an optional SVG file (templates for cutting machines). The pattern is written step-by-step with images, quilting diagrams, and printable templates. You will need a printer and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to print the templates.

To make these pillows, I used my favourite Northcott Fabrics designed by Deborah Edwards and Aurifil cotton thread. You will also need stuffing, batting, and craft felt for the eyes. Small scissors or snips are also very helpful for clipping and notching.

TIPS: Use any stuffing material you like, polyester or natural…by the way, bed pillows are a great source for stuffing material! For the best result, use wool blend or 100% wool craft felt; polyester felt will work as well, just take extra caution as it’s not heat resistant. Use 100% cotton or 80/20 blend batting; avoid using 100% polyester batting, as it might melt.

SKILLS: Basic sewing, clipping and notching, transfering marks, free motion quilting or walking foot quilting, hand sewing (ladder stitch). Freezer Paper applique is the prefered method but you can use any of your favorite applique techniques.

I hope you will enjoy making these adorable elephants as much as I enjoyed designing them. Please tag your projects with #IraRott or #IraRottPattern on instagram…I love seeing what you make. Happy quilting!
